Podemos comprar mais com dez euros do que com um euro, mas a natureza humana prefere uma moeda ganha a nove moedas dadas de presente. Por que é mais gratificante (a longo prazo) dar do que receber?
Porque fomos feitos para ser criadores – como o arquiteto Divino à imagem do qual fomos criados. Temos a responsabilidade de iniciar, de ser proativos, de construir – de mudar o mundo em que vivemos. É por isso que estamos intrinsecamente programados para sermos doadores, não recebedores. E é por isso que nos sentimos realizados quando damos.
Yes, basically we receive (more than we give) in the early years, as we are supported by our parents. But that’s only during our formative years, when we’re being trained and educated, preparing and shaping to become true givers. We are like the student who must first absorb the wisdom of his teachers before becoming a teacher himself (and even when he becomes a teacher and gives himself away, he always remains a student).
